Meet SFM Ninja Jenni. Her transformation is impressive, but it’s her journey and persistence that truly inspire. Below she shares how she found the determination to change her life and her top tips for success.
When did your weight loss journey begin? Tell us a little bit about your story and how you stumbled upon Stay Fit Mom.
Jenni: My first experience with Stay Fit Mom was the Back to School Challenge in September 2021. At the time I thought I was doing macros, but I still had the mindset of “less is more,” so I treated my macro targets like maximums rather than ranges. I was under-eating, and four weeks into the challenge I fell off the wagon and didn’t even submit after photos. In December 2021 my dad passed away from a heart attack. That was a turning point for my husband and me — we knew we needed to get healthier to be there for our son. I signed up for 1:1 coaching in January and haven’t looked back. Since then I’ve lost 20 pounds and nearly 15 inches.
You’ve been very consistent and steady throughout this process. What keeps you going?
Jenni: Even after five months, the flexibility and results still surprise me. I never imagined that eating more food could lead to weight loss, or that I could include foods I once labeled “bad” while seeing great results. It’s easy to fit a treat into my plan and still meet my macro targets, which makes this way of eating sustainable.

How has your macro journey impacted other areas of your life beyond needing a new wardrobe?
Jenni: Counting macros has made me more mindful about my choices and how they affect how I feel. I’m more selective about when I drink alcohol, and that feels empowering.

Have the habits you’ve adopted rubbed off on your family? What do they think about it?
Jenni: My husband joined DadBod and is doing macro coaching with me. We enjoy playing “Macro Tetris” and trying new recipes together. I couldn’t do this without his support — we’re committed to creating a healthier life for our family.

What are the biggest challenges you’ve had to overcome when sticking to the plan?
Jenni: I travel a lot for work, which means eating dinners at restaurants that may not provide nutrition info. I’ve gotten better at estimating portions and tracking as accurately as I can. I’ve learned that estimating and tracking is much better than not tracking at all.
You’re one of the most consistent clients we have. What advice do you have for people who struggle with consistency?
Jenni: Meal prep is essential. Planning ahead makes my weeks easier because I know what I’m eating. Sometimes that means trying a new recipe; other times it means cooking a large batch of protein that can be used in different meals throughout the week to reduce prep time.
What keeps you signing up for coaching again and again?
Jenni: Coach Kirstin is amazing. She’s my biggest supporter, answers my questions, and pushes me forward. I appreciate the weekly accountability and the positive feedback I get from her.

Many people think macro tracking is just for athletes or bodybuilders. Any advice for someone considering tracking macros?
Jenni: Counting macros is a great way to stay balanced, achieve steady results, and have more energy. I feel stronger in my workouts because I’m fueling my body properly. It’s accessible and practical for everyday life.
What Coach Kirstin has to say about working with Jenni:
Jenni is the sweetest and a joy to coach. She came to me eating around 1,600 calories a day; through reverse dieting she now eats about 2,150 calories daily. She didn’t cut to lose weight — her body changes happened during the reverse process. Jenni is a perfect example of why an all-or-nothing mentality doesn’t work. She travels frequently and still makes it work: she tracks when possible and, when she can’t, she gets as close as she can without writing off her progress. She’s committed to fitness, has run a half marathon, and prioritizes lifting. Her trust in the process and in me is unmatched, and I look forward to our weekly check-ins.
Thank you, Jenni, for sharing your story.
