My daughter’s favorite fruit is the apple; we pick our own fresh apples every year. I make applesauce, apple butter, caramelized apples, fried apples, apple pancakes, apple pie—basically apple everything.
My family teases me because I have a strange habit of laughing when someone falls. It isn’t that I’m not concerned if they’re hurt; for some reason it tickles me or makes me nervous. Last year while apple picking I couldn’t stop laughing when my son slipped on a rotten apple on a steep slope. One minute he was there, the next he slid down the hill. He smelled like cider the whole way home.
This Caramel Cream Cheese Apple Dip is fall-down good. It’s crunchy and smooth, sweet and tangy, with crisp juicy apple slices on top. While some prefer tart green apples, I like sweet reds such as Braeburn or Fuji; I splurged on Pink Ladies for mine. Pack this in your child’s lunch and you’ll be the coolest parent on the playground.
Individual Caramel Cream Cheese Apple Dip
- Total Time: 15 minutes
Ingredients
- 16 ounce tub caramel dip (like Marzettis)
- 8 ounce block cream cheese, softened
- Heath Bits of Brickle Toffee Bits
- Mini chocolate chips
- 8 – 4 ounce mason jars with lids
- 8 apples
Instructions
- Whip the cream cheese with 1/2 cup of the caramel dip until smooth.
- Spoon a layer of the cream cheese mixture into the bottom of each mason jar.
- Divide the remaining caramel dip among the jars and spread it over the cream cheese layer.
- Top each jar with a generous layer of Heath toffee bits and mini chocolate chips.
- Place the lid on each jar and screw on the band.
- Keep refrigerated until ready to serve.
