Lemonade is a timeless favorite—tart, sweet and remarkably refreshing. But after many summer days, plain lemonade can feel predictable. I like to change things up with different variations: strawberry lemonade, sparkling blueberry lemonade, or even a spirited hard lemonade. This time I wanted to add a subtle floral note.

I’ve partnered with Nielsen-Massey to share this rose-infused version. I’ve long admired their vanilla products, and I’m happy to collaborate with a brand I trust.

Why I like Nielsen-Massey

The company selects high-quality, hand-inspected vanilla beans and uses a cold extraction method that preserves delicate flavor notes. If you enjoy baking or making flavored drinks, their extracts are worth trying—my personal favorite is Madagascar Bourbon pure vanilla extract.

For this recipe, though, the spotlight is on rose water.

Rose water is intensely fragrant and sweet—only a small amount is needed to add a lovely floral dimension. In the recipe below I recommend starting with a modest amount and adjusting to taste, since rose water can be potent.

The bright acidity of fresh lemon juice balances the floral sweetness beautifully. The result is a delicious, aromatic lemonade that’s elegant and easy to make.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup
    240ml water
  • 1 cup
    200g sugar
  • 1 cup
240ml fresh lemon juice (about 4–6 lemons)
  • 4 cups
    1L cold water
  • ¼–½ teaspoon
Nielsen-Massey Rose Water (start small and adjust to taste)

Instructions

  • Make the simple syrup: Bring 1 cup (240ml) water to a boil. Add the sugar and stir until dissolved. Reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes. Remove from heat and cool completely.
  • In a large pitcher, combine the fresh lemon juice, ½ of the cooled simple syrup, and ¼ teaspoon rose water. Stir, then taste. Add more simple syrup for sweetness and a few more drops of rose water if you want a stronger floral note. Add the remaining 1L cold water, chill, and serve over ice.
