Basic Reed Diffuser Supplies and Instructions
What you need:
- Glass container with a narrow opening (slows evaporation)
- 1/4 cup light carrier oil (sweet almond oil or safflower oil)
- 15–20 drops of essential oil blend (see recipes below)
- 2 Tbsp of alcohol to help oils travel up the reeds (vodka works well)
- Reed sticks
- Combine the carrier oil, essential oils, and alcohol in a small bowl and mix thoroughly.
- Pour the mixture into the glass container.
- Add 5–7 reed sticks and allow them to absorb the oil for a few hours.
- Flip the reeds every few days to refresh the scent; replace reeds as needed for best diffusion.
Notes: Use a narrow-necked bottle to slow evaporation and keep blends balanced for the room size. Adjust the number of drops to increase or decrease scent intensity. Always follow safety guidelines for each essential oil and keep diffusers out of reach of children and pets.
