Crispy Air Fryer Chicken Kabobs with Veggies in 20 Minutes

Looking for a quick and delicious meal made right in the air fryer? Try these mouthwatering air fryer chicken kabobs!

Chicken kabobs are often associated with grilling, but you can achieve the same great flavor and slightly charred texture using an air fryer or a Ninja Foodi. They cook quickly, evenly, and require less fuss than firing up an outdoor grill.

Because hot air circulates around the food, an air fryer browns and crisps much like a grill, while keeping the chicken juicy. In many machines these kabobs are ready in roughly 9 minutes of cook time, plus marinade time.

Why make chicken kabobs in the air fryer?

An air fryer offers even, fast cooking and consistent browning thanks to rapid air circulation. It’s convenient for weeknights or when the weather keeps you inside. You can use any appliance with an air-fry function — Ninja Foodi, Ninja Speedi, or a dedicated air fryer — and on Ninja devices the Air Crisp setting works well.

Because cooking times vary by model, check for doneness with a thermometer: chicken should reach 165°F. Keep kabobs in a single layer so the air can circulate around each skewer for even cooking.

What you’ll need

  • Boneless, skinless chicken thighs
  • Soy sauce (gluten-free or regular)
  • Worcestershire sauce (gluten-free if needed)
  • Brown sugar
  • Ground ginger
  • Garlic (crushed)
  • Various bell peppers
  • Red onion
  • Zucchini

Use any additional vegetables you like; just cut everything into bite-sized pieces so it fits on the skewers. Chicken thighs are recommended for juicier results than breast meat.

Skewers: wooden or metal?

Both wooden and metal skewers work. Metal skewers are reusable and don’t splinter, which is why many prefer them. If you use wooden skewers, soak them first to reduce the chance of burning. We used 6-inch skewers to fit our air fryer basket; choose a length that fits your appliance.

Arrange the skewers so there’s space between them for hot air to circulate. If your basket is small, cook in batches rather than overcrowding.

Time required

The chicken should marinate for at least 2 hours, though longer is fine if you prepare it the night before. Active prep time is only a few minutes to cut and assemble, and cooking typically takes 7–9 minutes at 390°F (adjust for your model).

Marinating infuses flavor and keeps the meat tender. The marinade shown is a simple mix of soy sauce, Worcestershire, brown sugar, ground ginger, and garlic; you can swap in any marinade you prefer, knowing it will change the final flavor.

Serving suggestions

These kabobs pair nicely with roasted or air-fried vegetables, a simple salad, or rice made in a pressure cooker or the Ninja Foodi. They’re versatile and make a balanced meal with protein and vegetables.

Storing and reheating leftovers

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to four days. Reheat in the air fryer at 330°F for 3–4 minutes to restore crispness. If microwaving, remove pieces from skewers first and heat on a microwave-safe plate for about 1 minute, checking for even warming.

These kabobs are colorful, protein-packed, and easy to make ahead. Marinate the chicken in the morning or the night before for best flavor, then assemble and air fry when you’re ready to eat. They look impressive, yet take very little active time to prepare — perfect for busy evenings or casual gatherings.
